Offering a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Distribution, UAB's program is housed
in nationally accredited schools of business and engineering and prepares individuals for
entry level positions in sales, sales management, operations management and mid-management
with distributors and manufacturing firms selling through wholesaler-distributors. The ID
majors develop strengths in business, communications, information systems management,
engineering and technology, human resources and professional selling. Developed through
the financial support and participation of industry leaders in distribution and
manufacturing, UAB's ID program prepares students with the tools
that are most relevant to today's business practices.

Description
The field of Industrial Engineering Technology
offers the student a challenging career in business, industry, or
government. Industrial Engineering Technologists deal primarily
with the efficient management of money, materials, and manpower in
a business environment. They solve problems dealing with the
location and layout of plant facilities, materials handling,
work-station design, wage and salary payment plans, quality
control, personnel selection and placement, occupational safety
and health, and economic cost studies. To enable the graduate to
solve such a wide variety of management problems, the curriculum
of study will be broad and interesting.

Description
Focuses on the distribution and manufacturing sectors of industrial activity, but not at
the expense of a comprehensive business education. Admission to the program requires
junior standing with a minimum grade point average of 4.5 (5.0 system) for the first 60
semester hours of undergraduate instruction at an accredited college. The program consists
of 60 semester hours of junior-senior level courses divided between the College of
Commerce and Business Administration and the College of Engineering. It is administered by
the Department of Business Administration. Sufficient flexibility has been designed into
the curriculum to permit those with advanced preparation or substantial practical
knowledge to take advantage of their background and experience.

The Industrial Distribution program is designed to prepare students with the skills needed to serve the industrial distribution industry, one of the largest and fastest growing industrial segments in the U.S. and abroad. The Industrial Distribution curriculum provides students with a valuable blend of courses in industrial technology, distribution management, and business management. Purdue's program has established strong relationships with industry trade groups. Required technology courses include courses in material science, computer graphics, manual and automated manufacturing processes, and automatic identification and data capture. Description
The Interdisciplinary Engineering and Management Program provides a strong foundation in
engineering principles and mathematics, combined with a range of quantitative and
qualitative managerial principles. Students receive a balance between engineering,
calculus, physics, management, marketing, humanities, and social sciences. Engineering
courses are problem-solving oriented in mechanical, electrical, fluids, materials science,
and thermodynamics areas and are taken alongside students from the university's
ABET-accredited engineering programs. This program prepares its graduates for a wide range
of industries including manufacturing planning, production management, quality assurance,
industrial engineering, applications engineering, project management, technical sales,
marketing and purchasing/procurement. The freedom to choose from among seven elective

This program is industry and business-oriented with extensive hands-on training.
Professionals are prepared for careers relating to distributor sales, technical sales
management, manufacturer sales, branch management, purchasing,
warehousing, inventory management, transportation, and supply chain
management. Graduates obtain a Bachelor of Science degree in
Industrial Distribution and Logistics with a minor in business
administration. Students receive the Sales and Marketing Executives
Distributor Sales Level 1 Certification and the American Society of
Transportation and Logistics Certificate in Transportation and
Logistics upon graduation. On average, there are 25-30 graduates per
year. Internship required.

Description
Industrial Technology is a baccalaureate degree program designed to prepare individuals for technical managerial, production supervisory, and related types of professional leadership positions. The curriculum, even though built on technical education, has a balanced program of studies drawn from a variety of disciplines relating to industry. Included are a sound knowledge and understanding of materials and manufacturing processes, principles of distribution, and concepts of industrial management and human relations; experience in communications skills, humanities, and social sciences, and a proficiency level in the physical sciences, mathematics, design, and technical skills to permit the graduate to capably cope with typical technical managerial, and production problems.
Graduates enroll in the support and required courses, and then 'specialization' courses by advisement in an area of technical interest. Specializations in industry evolve with current technology, and some current examples are: Industrial Distribution, Microelectronics Manufacturing, Power Technology, Non-destructive Testing, Cast Metals / Metal Fabrication, and Wood Production / Composite Technology.

The Grainger Center for Supply Chain Management at the University of Wisconsin-Madison provides an integrated and experiential education in supply chain management. The program is dedicated to developing future leaders in the field, and it is supported by some of the finest companies in the world. IBM, Cisco Systems, Harley-Davidson, Hewlett-Packard, W.W.Grainger, Proctor & Gamble, Motorola, and many other corporations not only actively recruit at the Center, but also take a hands-on interest in the development

The Grainger Center curriculum provides an end-to-end framework that encourages “systems” thinking by integrating marketing, product development, sourcing, planning, production, and logistics, and includes numerous out-of-the classroom learning experiences.
